Liverpool PBA Project Highlights
Some of the many programs supported by the members and honorary members of the Village of Liverpool PBA
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM – When tough times hit tender children – especially at holiday time, the PBA tries to be there with warm clothing, mittens and a toy or two!
THANKSGIVING BASKETS – Yes, our Village does have families in need; more than ever before due to the economy. This annual program provides a bountiful basket of food to those less fortunate so they too may enjoy this special day.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES – The PBA believes organized sports promote good health, prove a positive outlet for youthful energy, and are an effective method of keeping young people away from drugs, alcohol and crime. The PBA provides colorful, personalized uniform tee shirts for school organized and registered team participants for boys and girls of all ages.
POLICE EXPLORER SCOUT PROGRAM – Sponsored by the Village of Liverpool PBA, all members of this unique program reside in the greater Liverpool area. Participants work toward attending the National Explorer Police Academy in Massachusetts.
AFTER THE FORMAL – A non-alcoholic party, newly expanded, to be held after both the Junior and Senior Proms. A program the PBA gives financial support to OFF-DUTY – that ON DUTY we see as having a positive effect.
BIKE RIDER HELEMETS –New York State law now requires cyclists 14 years and younger to wear helmets. Realizing a number of youngsters would no longer be able to ride their bikes due to the cost of the helmets and low family incomes, the PBA provides helmets to these youngsters so they might ride safely. A sea of happy, grateful faces is the return on this investment.
FREE CAR SAFETY SEAT CHECK PROGRAM – Another PBA sponsored community safety program designed to assure parents their safety seat, newly purchased or one that has been in use for sometime, is properly installed for maximum protection. All it takes is a quick visit to the Village of Liverpool Police Station for an inspector to check out the installation.
THE TOY CHEST – The PBA provides a “Comfy Corner” with attractive toys to help ease the fright and pain of youngsters who are in the Police Station as victims of a crime or as children of parents who have been victimized.
BIKE PATROL PROGRAM – Provides and maintains the equipment used to effectively police Village parks, parades and field day programs.
HOMEWATCH SERVICE – Whenever you plan to be away from your home for an extended period of time (vacation, trip, long weekend, etc.) call the Liverpool Police Department and request Homewatch Service for the dates you will be away. A patrol car will check your property at least three times a day every 24 hours during that period.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – The Liverpool PBA established a scholarship program in honor of Vince Marano of the Liverpool Police Department.
PARKWAY SUNDAYS – Officers and members of the Liverpool PBA provide traffic control and assistance during the Sunday Walk-Run-Bike-Blade events where the public is involved in programs like the Corporate Challenge and other events.
LAW ENFORCEMENT ACCREDITATION – The Village of Liverpool Police Department again earns National and New York State Accreditation. To earn accreditation, over 600 applicable national and state law enforcement program standards must be complied with and passed by the National Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The Liverpool Police Department is one of the few departments in New York State to meet the strict guidelines set forth by CALEA.
MAGLOCLEN SEMINAR – This statewide national law enforcement event offers special training, tactics and information on how to expand protection and safety in a community. The program is part of and directed by the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network.
LIGHTS ON THE LAKE – The PBA assists in traffic control for this annual Holiday event. The two-mile drive through the park attracts thousands annually.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE – The PBA assists the local American Legion with the annual Memorial Day celebration and parade through the Village.
